Travel Guide: Tacoma, Washington
Whenever we get a chance to visit our hometown of Seattle, WA for a few weeks we love to block a day or two on the weekend to spend a day in Tacoma, Washington about 45 minutes to an hour from the city. Now, Tacoma doesn’t always get the hype that Seattle’s does for people who travel for Washington, but in our opinion it’s such a hidden gem with great nature sights, some of the freshest seafood, and unique activities! Check out our Seattle day trip itinerary to Tacoma, WA.
Morning: Dash Point State Park
If you’re driving in from Seattle, Dash Point State Park will be a slight detour before you hit Tacoma. Spend an hour or so wandering the beachfront and trails from the park. The fresh air is amazing and really fun during low tide time!
Lunch: Point Ruston Public Market
We love Point Ruston Market for a quick bite and coffee break! Definitely check out Dancing Goat Coffee and Only Oatmeal Cookie Creations for a mid-morning snack. There are also food trucks available for lunch like TOLU modern Fijian cuisine and vendors with fresh fruits and vegetables. Afterwards you can walk the Ruston Way Path a short walk towards the water for some scenic views.
Afternoon: Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium
Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium a great place to spend a few hours outdoors with friends or family. Adult tickets start at $18, so if you’re looking for something for free in the general area you can also check out Point Defiance Park. We personally love the park and visiting the rose garden!
Night: Dinner at The Fish Peddler Restaurant
This spot comes as a recommendation from Akaash’s parents! A restaurant with great views and tasty, fresh seafood – be sure to book a reservation to snag a spot for dinner.
