Merhaba friends –
Thatâs right! We havenât ventured more than 20 miles from our Airbnb in the last two weeks, but weâre no longer in Turkey. As of 13 days ago, we are in TĂźrkiye and loving every minute of it – plus, who doesnât love a good rebrand? â¨
Now, on a more serious note, weâre over 6,000 miles from home and weâre far from oblivious to how things are heating up at home (quite literally for our friends in the southwest US – stay cool and donât melt!). Widespread layoffs are starting, rampant inflation seems to be here for a while, and a full-blown recession seems to be looming around the corner. Disenchanting? Not necessarily. As the old adage goes, itâs always darkest before the dawn. So, today weâre bringing you a dose of optimism from the stuff weâve been paying attention to hoping it brightens your day just a bit. Â
âď¸ Three travel destinations + guides to help plan an unforgettable summer ~
- For our friends in the PNW, youâre already well aware of how lucky we are to call this most beautiful part of the country home. For the rest of you, we invite you to check the PNW out! To get you started, check out our guide for Bend, OR (one of our favorite cities). Central Oregon is seriously underrated.
- For something a little more under-the-radar, hereâs the hard sell on why you must visit Boise, ID (if not for the city, for its colorful food scene).
- Interested in something around Seattle? Thereâs so much to see – check out a few vacation (or âstaycationâ) ideas near the Emerald City. Our personal favorites are a short drive away in the city of Tacoma, or a scenic ferry ride away in the picturesque oasis that is Whidbey Island. Shoot us a note if you decide to visit any of these spots!Â
đ§ Two podcast episodes + a related book that will spark your drive ~
- Look, personal development / self-help is not for everyone. But you know what is? Feeling inspired, feeling motivated, and feeling like youâve got what it takes to forge ahead and be your very best. Ed Mylett, the less-known albeit seriously impressive entrepreneur and performance coach, reminded Midori and me of this power in his recent podcast appearance on the Skinny Confidential Him & Her show. This episode is chock-full of mental tools and inspiring stories that dominated our dinner conversations for two nights following listening to the episode. His incredibly vulnerable interview on his own podcast in preparation for his book launch is equally inspiring and worth a listen. Â
- Speaking of which, if you do give the episodes a listen and find yourself inspired, Mylettâs book, The Power of One More, comes out in just a few weeks and you can pre-order it. Our order is in and July 5th canât come soon enough!Â
đ¤ One tweet to pull it all together, blow your mind, and leave you smiling ~
- (full thread here) Ladies and gentlemen, weâre rewatching Finding Nemo tonight and suggest you do the same đ¤Ż
- Iâm officially convinced that Pixar is basically a life-coaching academy for adults disguised as an animation studio. Bring on the 1:1 coaching pitch – Iâm already sold!
Thatâs all weâve got! We know the world seems really complicated right now. But today, letâs take a breath and remember that like everything else in life this, too, shall pass.Â
