Newsletter Update
Hi friends –
Honestly, we are sweating (figuratively). It has been a busy few weeks with juggling clients, traveling for work, and figuring out how to run our own businesses. In case you missed it, we are officially in Q4 of 2022 (wow!) which means business accounting + taxes were due and the sprint to the end of the year begins!
We missed writing the last newsletter… sorry 🤐 But the action has continued. Are we still ‘nomads?’ Are we still traveling full-time? We honestly are still figuring it out. That said, one thing is for certain: we’re not letting the pace and sense of adventure in our life subside… And as you plan your own epic countdown to the end of the year, here are a few quick words from us!
🧳 Two travel tips from us to kick things off ~
- Sadly, summer has come to an end. Along with it, the insane revenge-travel mayhem we saw ends, too. If you were savvy, patient, and flexible enough to wait, it is officially a great time to travel again. We’re seeing excellent domestic and international airfare deals for October – January travel. Take a look at a few yourselves! And in case any of your miles & points enthusiasts are planning an end-of-year mileage run to secure elite status, Alaska Airlines (personal fav) is running a promo for 50% additional elite miles for any flights to, from, or within California between now and mid-November. Rejoice!
- Also, while the skies are calmer, be responsible and book your holiday travel now! According to the WSJ, holiday airfare is already looking more expensive than in years past due to higher fuel prices and airlines attempting to recoup years of lost holiday revenue in one fell swoop… sneaky! It’s likely to get worse.
🏓 One trend we’re onto that we now have evidence for ~
- If you’ve been with us this summer, you know our newfound love for pickleball. Apparently, we share that love with Lebron James, who just purchased a pro pickleball team. If you doubted this thing was gonna get big, here’s your proof.
- Midori and I have been playing 2-3x a week whenever we can. In fact, it has gotten so obsessive, we’ve started traveling with our pickleball paddles! (Adios, minimalism 🤣) Midori recently outfitted herself with a swanky Onix Evoke Premier paddle. I’ve been sporting my brand new Pello carbon fiber paddle (made by a fledgling pickleball startup out of Texas!). Are we too far gone? Probably. Are we getting better at the game? Absolutely.
🛍️ One life/shopping hack to save you $100s over the next few years ~
- Ok, back to responsible purchases… We know the caliber of folks reading our newsletter is financially-savvy, proactive shoppers. Several of you are probably starting to think about holiday shopping already. Have you ever used online cashback portals to save a few extra bucks off your purchases? Seriously, it’s stupid simple. You use a cashback portal to click and visit the site you’re buying from (as opposed to typing the URL directly into your browser) and make your purchase. A few days, weeks, or months later, a percentage of your purchase shows up in your cashback portal account ready to withdraw! We use Cashback Monitor to check which cashback portal gives you the highest payout (if any) before making almost any online purchase.
- Sounds scammy… it’s actually not. We’ve saved at least $500 doing this with travel reservations (on Booking.com, Expedia, etc.) and car rentals (on Avis, National, etc.) alone. Some of our favorite cashback portals are here (disclaimer, these are referral links and will earn both of us $ after your first purchase): TopCashBack, HooplaDoopla, and Rakuten. There are so many more. E-mail us if you want more links.
😲 Two awesome releases we’re eagerly anticipating ~
- Crypto-mania may be over for now, but Web3 is still very much alive. Now Coinbase, the behemoth that made cryptocurrencies accessible to everyone, is releasing a movie this Friday chronicling the company’s story and the rise of crypto over the past 3+ years. Brian Armstrong, Coinbase’s CEO, announced the movie himself, and all I can say is… I know what I’m doing Friday night.
- This next link needs no explanation. Wakanda is back and now we have an official date (November 11th) AND a gangbusters new trailer to HYPE. Wakanda Forever!
That’s it from us! Send us your latest pickleball tips, epic cashback savings, and holiday travel plans. We’re eager to set to the skies soon and hope to see you around the world soon!
📸 Add us on BeReal because… we’re cool like that (if you have no idea what BeReal is, let SNL explain),
