Coming to you this week from ๐Ÿ“Seattle, WA (โœˆ๏ธ from MEX via SFO)

If you’re not already subscribed to our newsletter, we invite you to do so here so you never miss an update!

Hi friends –

An epic month in Mexico City has come to a close and we’re already feeling a new kind of ‘homesick’… one where we long for the familiar sounds, smells, and tastes of the most recent destination we called home. We’d be lying if we said we didn’t wake up some mornings wishing we could walk down the street to devour an Al Pastor taco for breakfast ๐ŸŒฎ

ย

โœ๏ธ A recent post (or two) from us for you, on all the things we care about

  • Though we strive to live as bonafide digital nomads, we can’t understate the importance of digital to our lifestyle! Check out some of the top apps we rely on almost daily to keep things moving efficiently and interestingly.
  • Quick re-share, now that we’re actually missing all the food in Mexico. If you ever find yourself in La Roma, CDMX, we hope this 24-hour food guide serves you well — it has several of our favorites!

๐ŸŽจ An artist that is inspiring us to pause, reflect, and reach for more

  • Even the simplest expiration of Mexican art will inevitably bring you to the work of Frida Kahlo. Her story and a glimpse of her creative process are brilliantly displayed at her blue Coyoacรกn home (now the Frida Kahlo Museum) she once shared with her husband (and fellow artist), Diego Rivera. We had a chance to visit and it was awesome.
  • You’d think that her lifelong struggle with her health (including a debilitating bus accident in her teens) further complicated by a tattered relationship with Rivera would keep her from creating… But you’d be wrong. Kahlo managed to channel her struggles into brilliant works of art like The Two Fridas and The Bus. Spare an evening to watch the 2002 award-winning depiction of her life, Frida, and see what a force of nature she was.

๐Ÿ”ฆ New sources and tools we’re using to harness inspiration when it strikes

  • Midori recently read and finished Steal Like an Artist, which preaches the power of action above all else. While we may think that we have to create the right circumstances for creativity, in fact, the only thing that matters is forward progress. The mark of a true artist is forward momentum.
  • One of my biggest frustrations when reading a book, blog post, etc. is coming across something really inspiring/profound/interesting only to forget about it a day or two later. Enter: Readwise. This service is so simple but totally game-changing. It tracks my Kindle highlights and other highlights from around the web and delivers a selection of them to my email inbox (and mobile app) every day so that I can rediscover the best parts of anything I read. Inspiration may still be perishable, but at least it’s no longer forgettable! Use the link above for a month of Readwise for free – I highly recommend it ๐Ÿ˜„

ย

That’s a wrap! ๐Ÿ™ Thanks for reading. We hope you all are starting to chart your own holiday adventures as November looms around the corner. If CDMX is on your list, drop us a line — let’s trade notes!
