Coming to you this week from πŸ“ San Antonio + Austin, TX

If you’re not already subscribed to our newsletter, we invite you to do so here so you never miss an update!

Hi friends –

Texas. Is. Awesome. Last weekend took us out to Waco, TX (yes, that Waco, Fixer Upper fans!) and this past weekend had us out in San Antonio. Our trips taught us this: despite Texas’s reputation for being fiercely proud (borderline isolationist), this state has some of the friendliest people, a flourishing art scene, and a burgeoning sense of optimism that is all too rare to find these days.

With this brief ode-to-Texas aside, let’s get back to business 🌡

πŸ’» According to experts, content creators will rule the world. We don’t know for sure, but we’ll keep trying our hand at it. Here’s the latest from us ~

  • For those of you who have reached out with questions about how we do the ‘whole nomadic thing,’ thank you! Honestly, it was one of the harder transitions we made, but it has been worthwhile in every way. Let’s open the floodgates to others with one of our newest posts, the top 7 questions we get about becoming a digital nomad.
  • A few weeks ago, Midori shared her morning routine + rituals on our blog and many of you said you loved it. Beyond just the coffee, she takes her mornings seriously! Here’s my attempt to garner a fraction of that response by sharing my morning rituals on our blog, too πŸ™‚
  • Did someone say coffee?! Check out this gem of a coffee shop we found in Austin. Espresso enthusiasts rejoice!

πŸ“– Books we’re reading / revisiting ~

  • Being on the road and embracing our ‘unstable’ lifestyle has taught us one thing for sure: humans are habit machines. Give a person long enough, and they aren’t just a culmination of their experiences. They literally are their habits. I’m re-reading one of my favorite quick, casual reads on how to build habits by Tynan, Superhuman by Habit. (P.S. Tynan’s other book, Forever Nomad, is another great read and the book that inspired us to go nomad!)
  • The origin stories of chefs and their journeys to greatness have captivated Midori as of late. They are, in her words, the ‘ultimate creatives.’ In honor of one of our favorite chefs-turned-perennial-traveler, the late Anthony Bourdain, she’s been tearing through his memoir, Kitchen Confidential. AB inspired back in 2015 to make our first-ever international trip together to Thailand. We miss him and will forever owe him for the undying fire in our bellies to always travel and experience new places through its people and their food πŸ™

πŸ—£ The stories behind food that have us fascinated ~

  • Speaking of food, there’s a phenomenal story of a little-known restaurant in Freedom, Maine started by Erin French. Her story is captured in her book and, more recently, Magnolia Network’s The Lost Kitchen.
  • ☝ The only way to get a reservation at this place is to mail in a postcard and be lucky enough to get a call back to confirm your spot. Needless to say, we just dropped off our postcards this morning! πŸ“¬ Would we completely rearrange our travel plans to make an unexpected trip to Maine?!? Uh… ABSOLUTELY. That’s what this lifestyle is all about!
