Coming to you this week from πŸ“ Bend, OR

If you’re not already subscribed to our newsletter, we invite you to do so here so you never miss an update!

Hi friends –

A quick business trip has Midori and I separated across states. So this special issue, jointly authored, comes to you from both WA and OR!

The summer has brought us back home to the PNW for a few weeks to pause, reflect, enjoy time with friends and family, and plan. It has been a treat reconnecting with friends and family while enjoying beautiful summer months at home. Yet wanderlust lingers in the back of our minds (oh, Canada – won’t you stop teasing us and open your borders soon?! Alas, better to be safe).

Here’s what we’ve been up to…

Β

πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ New guides and posts from us, inspired by recent travel

  • As we hinted in our past newsletters, this summer has cranked up the intensity on the work front. Learning how to balance our day jobs with our side projects is half the battle (and fun!) of being a digital nomad. In that spirit, Midori is pulling the curtain back on some of her productivity tricks as a long-term traveler. Check them out!
  • Our recent trip to Anchorage, AK was a chance to totally unplug and explore. We loved it and the feeling of being distraction-free. Our phones were notification-free and our attention was unabashedly focused on the amazing city of Anchorage and its surroundings. For anyone even slightly intrigued by visiting Anchorage, take the plunge! We hope our 24-hour guide to the city and some of our local food favorites help empower you to make the most of your time!
  • Bonus: In the spirit of being back in Bend, OR, we wanted to re-share one of our favorite (and earliest) guides: here’re our top 9 favorites in one of the most beautiful cities the PNW has to offer.

Β

🧩 Some crazy new ways to have fun thanks to good friends

  • Having been back in Seattle, it has been a privilege to see old friends and spend time having carefree fun. Recently, we learned our newest, oddly enjoyable party game, Left Center Right, thanks to our good friends @jamieleilani4 and @scottteal56. Practically guaranteed, simple enjoyment with great company – it was a blast!

Β

πŸ’ͺ Bringing you some strong digital-nomad, new-age-of-work energy to wrap!

  • The most recent BiggerPockets Money podcast episode has been a favorite – it’s all about financial indpendence in service of the freedom to experiment with one’s career. Midori and I have already listened to the episode twice (each!) and agree that it just hits different right now. Why? Well, give it a listen take a guess… Little ‘r’ with your thoughts!
  • And if we haven’t yet sufficiently convinced you that we believe the future of work is remote, let’s have Harvard Business Review help us make the case for you. Employers, listen up! It’s time to consider the future of work.

Β

And that’s a wrap! Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts. Do us a favor and try something new today – however small! The world is just too big and life is just too short not to live for variety. Until next time!
