Coming to you this week from πŸ“ Albuquerque, NM

If you’re not already subscribed to our newsletter, we invite you to do so here so you never miss an update!

Hi friends –

After a few weeks off, we’re back! Radio silence from us is not usually the norm, but the last few weeks back home had us tied up with a few other obligations and generally making us embrace a quick two-week ‘pause’ on the travel. But what can we say… old habits die hard, and now we’re back on the road (and stoked to be)! πŸ›£

So what’s the latest with us? Thanks for asking!

πŸ“± Hot off the press content we’re excited to share ~

  • Being at home for a few weeks gave us critical time and space to make some travel gear upgrades. As they say, new voyage, new us! (nobody actually says that, do they 😟) Check out some of the upgrades that we’re most excited about here and let us know if you’ve got any suggested upgrades of your own (little ‘r’ to this email)
  • We made the long and scenic drive from Phoenix to Albuquerque last week. En route, we took a little detour to revitalize our mind and body with some of that vortex energy in Sedona, AZ. Worth it? Absolutely. The ‘healing energy’ of it aside (which we definitely felt… I think?… or maybe that was just a pang of hunger from the long drive over) few things will take your breath away like the vibrant natural colors and landscape mother nature is capable of in the middle of a desert!

πŸ₯ƒ Recent food n’ drink that has us beaming with joy ~

  • When it comes to hard liquor, you’ll usually find me (Akaash) sipping whiskey neat. Tequila usually is far cry from sipping material…. Until I met my new love, Clase Azul Reposado (a beautiful bottle, too!). I’d be remiss to say it pairs perfectly with great conversation on warm Arizona evenings with generous friends so willing to share their tequila with you (πŸ˜ƒThanks @bennovak for so graciously introducing me to this stuff!).
  • For all you less-than-enthusiastic-about-liquor readers, Midori has been obsessed with a freshly brewed cup of coffee using beans from Middle Fork Roasters in Seattle (intro’d to us by Bean Box). These are near-perfect for the AeroPress, with the most amazing chocolate-chip-cookie-dough-like finish after every sip.
  • En route from Gallup, NM to Albuquerque along the historic Route 66, we stopped for some breakfast at the unsuspecting, yet life-changing West End Deli. This place has been run by the proprietor, Mike, for over 40 years. He’s 68 years old and moves like lightning. His life story is inspiring to say the least. As a former uranium miner and Cold War veteran, he pours a level of craftsmanship into every sandwich and donut that comes out of his shop (24×7, btw!) that only someone who’s lived a life as rich as he can. No. Apple. Fritter (or pastrami sandwich πŸ₯ͺ). Can. Live. Up.

β˜• Business ideas piquing our interest ~

  • They may not be as sexy as tech-startups or real estate, but WOW are franchises an incredible way to foray into business ownership! Check out this BP Money podcast episode that has us spending too much time on BizBuySell as of late.
  • Speaking of foraying into business ownership, have you seen Midori’s online digital print shop on Etsy? The pandemic has done a number on many businesses, but digital products have thrived and I’m proud of Midori for making a splash and growing this into something real!
  • So… final thought. We want to build something cool (and digital) together to address some of the top requests/questions we’ve gotten from all of you. It might be a course or a short ebook, and it’d share our take on 1) How to simplify your life and possessions, 2) Staying productive on the road, and 3) Travel hacking your way affordable (and frequent) flights, hotels, and more. If this is something you’d find interesting and would want to see, please drop us a line (just click & send!) so we can get a temperature check – Grazie!

Thanks for reading, always. We’ve missed writing these and are looking forward to getting back to it! Drop us a line to say ‘hi’ via reply or Instagram.

🌢 May your days be as spicy as these New Mexico green chiles,

Akaash (& Midori)
