My morning routine (On the road edition)

Do you have a morning routine? One of the questions we get the most is how do we stay consistent with our days while we are always moving locations.

The secret? Having a morning routine we can always count on. Having a good morning where we take time for ourselves before other people’s priorities kick-in is our number one way to staying productive while on the road. While every day isn’t perfect (and we have the occasional oversleeping or early morning meeting…) we do have a few “to-dos” we tend to check off in the morning to get our mind right no matter where in the world we are.

6:30 AM: Wake up and drink lemon water

We will squeeze half a lemon with a dash of celtic salt and mix it with warm water. Easiest is to drink it fast and first thing in the morning to add a boost of vitamin C.

6:45 AM: Celery juice or green powder potion

In order to keep our gut healthy on the road, we like to start our day on an empty stomach with celery juice (literally only celery…) or a green superfood powder mixed with water. This allows us to reset our gut or get the nutrients we need for the day. You will want to leave 15-30 minutes before and after celery juice before eating or drinking anything else.

7:00 AM: Quick workout or walk

We will typically squeeze in a quick workout (I love to do a 15-20 minute yoga video from YouTube because I can bring my yoga mat anywhere) or walk every other day just to get our heart rate pumping. 20-30 minutes of movement will do wonders.

7:30 AM: Coffee and journaling

Coffee time is my favorite part of the morning (usually the main reason I’ll wake up tbh). We recently been loving a Seattle-based roaster off Amazon, called Top Grind! Akaash will usually always make the coffee and I’ll spend some time journaling in my Moleskine notebook, writing about what I am grateful, my affirmations and free form thoughts. We like to spend 15-20 minutes chatting without our phones or technology during this time too.

8:15 AM: Shower

I love to use my shower time to listen to a podcast. I’ve currently been binging The BossBabe Podcast. This is my indicator my workday is starting soon and easily wakes my body up.

8:45 AM: Reading or meditate

With what ever time we have left in the morning before meetings start, we will typically take time to read (currently: Cash Flow Quadrant) or meditate for 15 minutes using the Calm app. It’s a great way to kick-start your brain without defaulting to your phone first thing in the morning.

9:00 AM: Time for work!
