Newsletter Update
Hi friends –
Thanks for tuning in to this 1-day-late (sorry!) edition of ‘Where in the World?!’. It has been a crazy two weeks. Between Midori and I parting ways from Las Vegas to separate destinations (but not before Midori scored us a BIG WIN on the Buffalo Slots at the airport!!), spending time apart with family and friends, and now readjusting to life back in Seattle… We’re just taking a week or two to get back into the swing of things.
So, in that spirit, we’re keeping this week’s newsletter simple: a quick lowdown packed with only the best of what has piqued our interest in the past two weeks. Enjoy!
🎵 Three songs (bangers!) that remind us of our favorite places we’ve been to this year ~
- If you’re a hardcore follower (thanks!), you’ll remember our EPIC cruise from Tallinn, Estonia to Stockholm, Sweden several months ago. Nothing commemorates that cruise like watching a bunch of Estonians party to this Spanish banger, Sofia, with nothing held back. All hail Alvaro Soler!
- Speaking of Spanish songs, the anthem of our summer has become this little-known track, Primero, by Niña Dioz. We love hip-hop, but Latin hip-hop takes our love to 11/10. Let the slick piano trills of this track wake you up every AM and tell us you don’t feel unstoppable!
- Ok… the most esoteric of our favorites. We heard this classical Turkish track in the back of a Istanbul taxi. The driver was playing it so loud, people in the cars next to us started dancing – yes, this song induced an impromptu dance party in traffic. We hope it metaphorically does the same in your life! (ps – the first 40 seconds are the best part)
🛒 Three Prime Day 2022 purchases we’re weirdly proud of ~
- My first week back in the country was spent on a guys’ trip golfing in the sizzling Arizona heat by day and shotgunning beers (actually Trulys, because apparently we all count calories now) by night. But, I fried my head off on the fairways… So naturally, my favorite Prime Day purchase was this snazzy Black Clover hat which I can’t wait to sport in public. It arrives tomorrow – watch out Seattle!
- Midori’s best purchase was a more responsible, moderate choice #maturity. Those who recognize these Bala Bangles she bought may also recognize their iconic appearance on Shark Tank less than a year ago. Simple idea, great execution – Midori has an eye for strong product/market fit!
- Finally, one travel essential… Word to the wise, travel plug adapters with built-in USB ports are a lifesaver. One of our travel adapters is literally from pre-2010 and definitely sin-USB ports so it was time to upgrade to this bad boy here. Those 220V outlets are about to get tamed in proper American fashion.
📺 Two TV/movie releases to maximize your next couch-potato session ~
- We’ve mentioned Only Murders in the Building in this newsletter before, but it’s worth mentioning again. Especially now that Season 2 is on Hulu, it’s worth checking out! The character mix between Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short is super-entertaining and makes for easy watching!
- For a far more grim-yet-equally-entertaining watch, I thoroughly enjoyed the Robert Pattinson performance in The Batman. As a die-hard Marvel fan, I’m always skeptical of DC releases (unless Christopher Nolan is directing). But I’ve gotta hand it to this cast and writer crew. The Batman (currently on HBO Max) is perfectly dark, the characters are imperfectly perfect, and the exploration of “Batman” more as a detective vs. save-the-world superhero is really well done.
Though the travel content takes a pause, for now, we hope you found some of these random recommendations useful and/or entertaining!
